systemOptique eliminates noise from a network by using glass optical fiber to transmit network data instead of copper wire. Ethernet cable made of metal, no matter how well made can still pick up electrical noise radiated through the air. Optical fiber can not pick up any noise because it’s made of glass
Some audiophiles have tried to use copper Ethernet to optical Ethernet transceivers to build an isolated gap between their audio equipment and their router. This works well, but the final transceiver has to be connected to the network player using wired Ethernet and noise can be picked up
The opticalRendu gets the absolutely cleanest signal to your DAC by using small ultra low noise regulators for each component and FEMTO oscillators. This manifests itself as very clean sound with revealing detail
systemOptique equipment such as opticalRendu has a fiber network interface so no network noise can reach them. Using a player or streamer with an optical interface will provide 100% galvanic isolation and so eliminate network noise
Fiber optic networking was designed for the communication industry and there are may different transceiver module (SFP) types and light frequencies. systemOptique certified equipment has been tested to work together for simple operation
Unless you have a router or network switch that supports optical Ethernet you need a media converter like the opticalModule. This converts wired Ethernet to optical Ethernet. This is shown in the diagram below.

systemOptique Fantastique! - Neil Forkin - 16 January 2021
I was already fairly happy with my system which comprised a Prestige (also from Martin), Chord Hugo TT2 DAC, Nord NC500DM amp, PMC Twenty sub and PMC Twenty5.22 speakers and GIK bass traps / panels. I contacted Martin prior to Christmas 2020 for advice on improving the system which could occasionally suffer a hard edge to the upper frequency range. Over the next two months I bought the opticalRendu, opticalModule, Keces P3 LPS (powering the Prestige on the oR) and Audiophonics LPS (powering the oM) following numerous discussion with Martin. I was expecting a marginal increase in quality. There was nothing marginal about the improvement. Gone were the hard edges which were replaced by a wonderfully full, organic and detailed sound. Bass extension and texture, micro details, taller wider soundstage, superb transients etc. I've had to turn the sub down as a result. I never thought the PMC's could sound this good. The improvement was greater than the upgraded DAC from a Chord QBD76HD to the Hugo TT2, which was much more expensive. Fantastic bit of kit which has given me the biggest 'bang for buck' upgrade in the 30 years I've been enjoying this hobby. The advice and customer service given by Martin is second to none. I cannot recommend him and Audiostore highly enough.
Upgrade to a Sonore optical Rendu (from a microRendu) - Ferenc Zsiga - 24 December 2020
I purchased my first Sonore product (microRendu) over 3 years ago from Martin. Back then Martin provided me lots of information about this great little streamer/renderer. Since then I upgraded my system (Audio Note Oto SE Signature amp., Audio Note E Spe Hemp speakers etc., so it was time to upgrade my digital front end and the obvious choice was the Sonore oR. I had a couple of phone conversation about the best possible setup with Martin who's always extremely helpful and gave me valuable advice. Martin sent me the oR on Dec. 16th and I took delivery the next morning - in Budapest, Hungary! I'm still runnning in the oR, but I can already hear the improvement over the mR - greater detail (not analytical), improved control of the low end and simply a more sophisticated musical presentation. Sonore products require good quality, clean power, so I'm using an sBooster linear power supply with my oR. Thank you again, Martin for all your help in choosing my ideal Roon end point!
Optical Rendu - Robert T - 22 August 2020
I waited a few months before sending this review. The Rendu improved slowly over this time. The sound became smoother, clearer, more open with better tone and sound stage and dynamic range. I found the burn in to bring it up to the level that I thought it would reach for enjoyable listening sessions. Really pleased I went for this set up using Ether Regen and Chord dac. Thanks to Martin at Audiostore for his sensible guidance I would recommend this site to anyone. Many Thanks Robert
Sonore optical Rendu (Audiostore Bundle) - JG - 26 April 2020
I Purchased this after I saw Hanz s review on YouTube and a recommendation from Martin at audiostore. After owning several chord DACs streaming music from my Mac, I decided to purchase an sotm sms 200 ultra Neo, I was shocked at how good it was , the improvement it gave and I d never heard such resolution and SQ from my Hugo TT2 /ATC monitors, however after listening to the optical Rendu I was very surprised to hear that it s even better than the sotm across the board, in comparison its sounds less bright , but even more detail, deeper bass, a total lack of any hiss in my system when at high volume , unless it s present on the recording, Notes on instruments are clearer , separation of voices and instruments are much better, micro details even in the low to mid range are improved, I can say that I have never experienced 44.1 played at such a high quality level, high res files can sound even better, it s a massive improvement over using the Mac into the TT2 .The optical Rendu is a brilliant product and an absolute bargain. I would say that this is one of the biggest improvements in my system so far.
A Surprisingly large improvement over Ultrarendu - Ian - 10 July 2019
I needed a new music renderer (I already have two Sonic Orbiters, two microrendus and three Ultrarendus) so it made sense to buy an OpticalRendu and an Optical Module. I feed it into Chord's M Scaler and then Hugo TT2 into Stax 007mk2 headphones energised by a Mjölnir Audio KGSSHV Carbon. As Chord try and make their output insensitive to the input data stream I was not actually expecting a huge improvement in the sound. There is a clear improvement in all aspects of the sound reproduction. The bass is hitting harder, actually better extension in the top end but more of that x factor that has me bargaining with myself at midnight "just one more track". I listened to Roon Radio all day yesterday and favourited three times as many tracks as normal. It feels like the first time I heard the Linn LP12, musical and viceless. This is a stunning upgrade and looking at the price difference over the UltraRendu I actually feel guilty paying such a small premium for such a big leap forwards.
Superb OpticalRrndu - Rich Hanmer - 23 June 2019
After a couple of days listening its settling in nicely. Basically it's more of the same as the ultra rendu but definitely a more organic sound, more natural and real. I can compare it directly to my CD as they go through the same dac and before the optical rendu the cd just had the edge and now streaming has just overtaken the cd. Please note this is playing through a high end system,so it's a stiff test for the OpticalRendu.
